  • Foreign Registration

    Firstly Issuing Foreign Registration?

    The foreigners who are issuing the foreign registration for the first time can register at the Immigration Office.

    Location

    - Immigration Office or branch offices under the jurisdiction (Excluding branch offices without registration duty)

    ※ ☎ 1345 without area code

    Period

    - Foreigners intending to stay for more than 90 days in Korea after entry => Within 90 days of entry
    - Foreigners with permission granted for status to stay or change of status => Upon receiving permission (immediately)

    ※ A penalty will be given if not registered in time.

    Required Documents

    - Passport, one standard sized color photos (3.5 ×4.5cm, photographed within 6 months)
    - Application form & Issuing Fee of 30,000 won for a Certificate of Foreign Registration (must be attached Government Revenue Stamp) - A Certificate of Foreign Registration (Only person who registered as a companion in the applicant’s form)
    - Required documents by status (Please inquire exact information at Immigration Office)

      1. Letter of delegation
      2. Original or a copy of registrant’s identification
      3. Substitute’s identification

  • Changing of Address

    Changing Address?

    Register at the District Office of the new address or Immigration Office (or branch office) under the jurisdiction within 14 days of the relocation.

    The seal must be registered at the district office.

    Required Documents

    - Statement of Eligibility for Marriage
    - Foreigners's translated transcript of Statement of Eligibility for Marriage

    ※ Must be named, signed or stamped by the translator's

    - Each applicant's Identification Card (Foreigner spouse’s passport)
    - Seal (Can be substituted with signature if both spouses are present at registration)

    Marriage Certificate

    ※ A marriage certificate application form can be found in Mapo-gu Website (Mapo-gu Office> Electronic Civic Complaints > Civic Complaints Application > Search for “Registration of Marriage” in a search the bar at the bottom of the page)

    - Applicable sections must be filled by both spouses
    - Information of two witnesses; Name, Signature,Resident Registration Number, Address must be filled in

    Chinese Applicants

    - Certificate of being unmarried, Certificate of Nationality

    ※ Documents for verifying ethnic Korean living in China (resident registration) are needed for ethnic Korean applicants

    ※ A certificate requires issued certifications from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, foreign office of each Local Provinces, Autonomous Regions, and Municipalities

    2Reporting of Marriage after Former Reported Outside Korea

    Required Documents

    - Marriage Certificate issued outside Korea and its translated transcript

    ※ Must be named, signed or stamped by the translator's e.g ; Translator Name (Sign or seal)

    - Each applicant's Identification Card.

    ※Copy of passport is available (Foreigner’s autograph sign (seal) is required.)

    Marriage Certificate (Not necessary for two witnesses)

    Must be reported three months within the date of marriage

    ※ Penalty will be given if reported afterwards.

    ◎ Foreign names must be written in Korean accordingly local pronunciation and in an order of surname, given name (Chinese letters in ethnic Korean person’s name can be written as they pronounced in Korean)
